There has been a very nice change 'round here and it was my Hubbie's idea. He was already working 7 days a week, waking at 5:10 in the am to leave for work at 5:30, come home round 3:30 in the afternoon only to return back to work 4 till 9. That took place Monday and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he was home for the evening and then you get to Fridays and Saturdays when he would leave and work his evening job from 4 pm till 2:30 in the morning. Last are Sundays when he got stuck with the terrible in the middle of the day shift where you can't go and do anything before work but by the time you get off everything is closing and almost time to hit the sack.
But why does it have to be that way? There was so little time for family and Evie is at the age where she is starting to understand the absence of Daddy.
Then a bright idea came. Why not work Monday - Thursday 10 hour shifts at the first job and have Friday off there. Work Saturday and Sunday 4:30 am till 2 or 4 and occasionally have Fridays off or pick up a mid-day shift.
All the shifts are shifted but it all makes for the same amount of hours. Why didn't we think of this before. He's working 7 days a week but he was doing that with the old hectic schedule that wore his behind out and now he has every evening off to be with us.
It is amazing the improvement I have noticed in Evie since the change. I was thinking all the things she was doing was just because of the 'terrible two's'. And yes, some of it is her coming into her own person and doing what any child does best, push mommy and daddy's buttons. But now it has evened out. She is happier which makes us happier. Less tempers, more smiles.
I love him for working what ever crazy schedule was handed to him. He really has an amazing work ethic. But how much more wonderful it is now that the pieces of the work schedule were able to shift and create a wonderful window of family time for use every night.
Thank you for being the man who works hard for his family. That is willing to do practically anything to help us make payments, bills and even a savings.
I knew before he was a wonderful worker and an even more amazing man. But now he has even surprised me and I love him even more for it.
That's wonderful that he was able to work his schedules out to have evenings with his family. I'm sure it has helps tons with Evie...and for you as well.
